Herefordshire is renowned for its natural river scenery and tranquil countryside and has a number of bustling market towns all individual with a character of their own. The quaint villages are ideal bases to explore and sample traditional Herefordshire produce and hospitality.
Upton Bishop is a short distance from the Malvern Hills, Ledbury and Worcestershire and the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. You will be ideally based for the three counties. It is close to Cheltenham for the horse racing and a day out in the Cotswolds. Indeed there is racing nearby at Hereford, Worcester, Ludlow and Chepstow.
Symonds Yat is a short drive away and recognized as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as its award winning pub the Saracen’s Head. Perfect for lunch after a bike ride or walk.
Cycling, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and climbing are all available in the area. Boat cruises operate along the river too with a short cruise and guided commentary.
The Wye Valley has over 1000 miles of public footpaths including the Sculpture Trail and Wye Valley Walk.
There are plenty of places to eat in the market towns of Ross-on-Wye and Ledbury and Monmouth. From fine dining to coffee shops as well as country pubs along the river.
The Three Choirs music festival is held every July/August in the three county Cathedrals of Herford, Worcester and Gloucester. Cheltenham and Hereford racecourses are within easy distance.
